Even More Creswell Crags – March 2025

Sorry, it’s more Creswell Crags, in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire but don’t ask me which side I was on…

With the cursed knee (which is improving), I’m limited how far I can walk. This trip was a pitiful 1.5 miles or so but worth it for the views, the clouds, the sky, horses (distantly) and seeing flowers and plants budding and coming to life.

The lemon cake and cappuccino at Creswell Crags Centre cafe was also very tasty!

Very dark and brooding to start with, with hint of blue.

Lots of hazel trees coming into bud:

Then coffees and cake.

It was wonderful to see the dramatic grey skies gradually transform into blue and white on the way back:

This is Marsh Marigold:

More blueness:

  1. Aidan, your photos are absolutely beautiful! Thank you for this gorgeous walk. The skies and the light are glorious!

  2. Thanks, Val. Unfortunately I’m a little bit limited in distance walking (because of the cursed knee) so there’s a lot of Creswell Crags at the moment. However, it often proves to be a treat and I’m so lucky to be able to enjoy the ‘big skies’ in that area of north-east Derbyshire. And of course I’m happy to share that with some images from those walks. Your enjoyment cheers me up, too. 😀

  3. I love your walks and your photos, Aidan. I hope your knee improves so you can do more soon!

  4. Ah, the cursed knee. One step forward and two steps back. Or is it the other way round? I tend to improve and then I overdo it which is rather frustrating. “Better than two months ago,” I have to tell myself. I’d still prefer a 6 or 7 mile walk…
